Who We Are

Yoruba Community Hull is a cultural, social and support organisation founded by passionate individuals committed to building a community that supports Yoruba people living in Hull and East Riding.

Our work is rooted in preserving Yoruba heritage while strengthening the wellbeing of every family we serve. In particular, we share Yoruba cultural values and make a positive contribution to the wider Hull community through events, welfare support, and youth-focused programmes.

Families, professionals, students and community members come together here to celebrate our shared identity and build a thriving presence within the wider society. Through festivals, language classes, and cultural workshops, for example, we keep our traditions alive and pass them on to the next generation.

Beyond culture, we also provide practical support for new arrivals, families, and individuals navigating life in a new city from guidance and advocacy to welfare assistance and help accessing local services. Because we’re a recognised voice for the Yoruba community, we work in partnership with local organisations, institutions, and civic bodies across Hull to ensure representation, inclusion, and positive contribution to the region.
